The family room

Unplug appliances from the wall

Televisions, DVD players, computers, stereos, and game consoles still use power in standby mode. When not in use, unplug these appliances from the wall.

Just run the washer or dryer at full load. Use cold water to wash clothes and spin them completely before drying

Drying clothes

Use a clothesline instead of a dryer whenever possible. Only use a dryer with a full load and when the clothes are spun well first by the washing machine. Dripping clothes should never be placed in the dryer. Keep the lint filter clean.

The bathroom

Use water wisely

Set the hot water temperature to 50 degrees centigrade. Installing water-saving shower heads in your home will reduce the amount of hot water and energy used. Shorten showers to less than five minutes.
